a history of great depth and care is behind this feline
Lightningstep was her initial mentor for a period of time. He disobeyed the warrior code, betrayed his clanmates and was never to return to the clan. Her training was continued by her second mentor, Tangledfoot.
Lightningstep was originally born as a loner with many siblings and other kin. At the time, the numbers in rogues were on the rise and his small colony were gradually pressured to migrate to safer lands. Even so, they were ambushed and were met with an unfortunate fate. He was the only survivor. A Shadowcan patrol had passed by to investigate and from then on he was given the name ‘Lightningkit’. He had became one of them but he promised to remember his true blood and origin as he grew up.
By the time that Comfreystream was given birth to, Lightningstep had already become a full-fledged warrior of Shadowclan.
In the attack with Leaftalon’s group, Lightningstep caught sight of a severely injured rogue she-cat that seemed to be the same age as him. Her pain reminded him of his situation as a kitten when his family was attacked. Whether it was out of sympathy or pity, or even a slight interest for the she-cat, he brought her out of the warzone to safety. Despite his actions, he did not expect anything from it. He would stay with the clan and she would run with the remnant rogues after the defeat of Leaftalon.
That was what he thought but not long had passed until there was an unexpected confrontation between him and the rogue she-cat. It is then that she questioned his previous actions and for some reason, that was where he decided to open his heart.
The two eventually had a litter but only one tom survived. Joyful with this significant change and responsibility in his life, he would frequently disappear from the camp and territory to dedicate his passion to his most beloved soulmate and son. Lavenderfang, mother of Comfreykit, was one of the few cats that began to rouse suspicion towards his behaviour.
In recognition for his capability in the clan Lightningstep was given another important responsibility; he was to offer guidance an training as a mentor to a new apprentice, Comfreypaw. Time with his beloved kin shortened as he had to concentrate on meeting the apprentice's and the clan's needs. When the opportunity arose, his partner would convince him to leave the clan. Lightningstep began to question where his heart belonged and who he was. His path for freedom never existed after all; he was brought into the clan and raised in it out of his will.
Lightningstep became stressed with his duties and worried for his family as he barely had time to see them. Comfreypaw did notice some change in his mood and behaviour but she felt timid towards her authorities. She grew up as the reserved type and rarely warmed up to her other clanmates since she did not flow easily into social situations or activities; she would often seek out a quiet place to herself. Her parents, Lavenderfang and Sootwhisker, were often strict with her as they wanted to raise a daughter that was strong-hearted, clear-minded and well-mannered. Compreypaw would grow to be independent but would never be able to free herself of the chains placed on by her mother and father.
Lightningstep witnessed the overbearing relationship between his apprentice and her parents, and compared them to his method of parenting. He thought that his apprentice was unrealistically expected of and did not need to stress as much as she needed at her age. Lightningstep decided to be her second father and gradually built up a close relationship with her. Consequently, she slowly started to warm up to him. Warm enough to express all her bottled feelings and concerns, only to this second father and no other being. It reached a point where their trust and bond was so deep that he revealed his secret life.
Comfreypaw was conflicted at first with that knowledge but her regard for him as a caring friend and guardian was great enough for her to overlook his actions that betrayed the warrior code. Love is so powerful that it cannot be destroyed by a set of rules.
Lavenderfang and the clan began to suspect some sort of treachery from Lightningstep as his scent brought on some strange smells when he returned from long ventures.
It was twilight when they ventured out far into and perhaps, beyond the territory, and rambled for hours when they were abruptly met by Lightningstep’s family. They appeared to have been through rough circumstances. He was thrilled to see his partner and that his son had grown larger but his heart quickly sank as he found the light in his son’s eyes reflecting something ferocious. His son immediately showed hostility and lashed out at Comfreypaw’s throat. Cruelty, such is the way of the rogue.
The rogue she-cat knew it was his apprentice that held him back from making the decision to leave the clan. That sudden attack was a warning for him to either choose his family or the clan. There would never be peace for him and his family for as long as he was bound by the lore of his ancestors.
Soon Lavenderfang and her patrol confront the commotion. Upon discovering her bloodied daughter, Lavenderfang engages in battle with the rogue she-cat. Lavenderfang ends with her throat also severely damaged. Some of the patrol members return the unconscious Lavenderfang and injured Comfreypaw to camp. The rest pin down the rogues and give Lightnignstep a chance to prove his loyalty. She tells him if they never associate with the clans again, the three of them can stay together and run free forever. Then, she attempts to throw herself into another fatal battle with the warrior that has her pinned but is terribly maimed as a result. She was able to escape in the struggle though, and fled with her son. Lightningstep backed away from his clan and chased after them, marking his betrayal.
In the end, the rogue she-cat did not survive her injury and he promised her desire that he would raise the kit. Their status and whereabouts are unknown.
Lavenderfang had passed away by the time her body reached the camp.
Comfreypaw’s mood had become somewhat gloomy since the incident and she grew even more distant from the clan. Tangledfoot became her second mentor. Only when they started adventuring far in the territory is when she opened up to her mentor somewhat; it reminded her of the times when she strode on long walks with Lightningstep.
The scarring on her throat continue to heal to this day into her warriorhood. They fade slowly as the way her memories of her second father are vanishing from her world.
as a final note, a bit more about (name)'s appearance

The gait that she has can be described as smooth and delicate. Comfreystream is gracefully swift and fluid in her speed, reaction and flexibility.
